New Delhi: Three men have been arrested from Punjab for allegedly writing objectionable slogans and pro-Khalistan graffiti on walls at Delhi’s Singhu Border on the directions of designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, police said on Saturday.
The slogans and graffiti were found on walls near the Singhu Border on September 6. Following the incident, the Delhi Police Special Cell registered an FIR and launched an investigation.
According to police sources, Pannun, the chief of banned pro-Khalistan outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), had allegedly directed one of the accused to write the slogans. Pannun had also claimed responsibility for the incident in a post on X.
Police identified the three arrested men as Preetpal, Harminder Singh and Sheeshpal. The accused were traced to Faridkot in Punjab with the help of CCTV footage installed around the Singhu Border.
A police team subsequently travelled to Punjab and arrested the three men. Police have also recovered the car allegedly used by the accused.
According to police sources, Preetpal was allegedly in direct contact with Pannun and had received instructions from him to write the objectionable slogans on walls near the Singhu Border.
Investigators have also found that Preetpal was allegedly in contact with terror-linked organisations based in Pakistan. Police said the matter is still being investigated.
An FIR under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) is already registered against Preetpal, according to police sources.The Special Cell and Intelligence Bureau teams are questioning the three accused at Alipur Police S ation as part of the investigation.
