Das further noted that Santali was included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution during the tenure of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He said Ol Chiki is used across Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Assam and other regions, as well as in Nepal and Bangladesh.
