According to data cited by CM Adhikari from the state Health Department, nearly 60,000 girls in the state, below the age of 18 gave birth between January 1 and June 30, 2016. Murshidabad district recorded the highest number, with 12,847 such cases, followed by South 24 Parganas with 4,178 cases.
