Rana is considered the first superstar of Indian shooting. When Rana won gold in the 25m Standard Pistol with a World Record score at the 1994 World Shooting Championship in Milan, Italy, shooting gained recognition in every Indian home. Rana won 15 medals, including 9 gold, at the Commonwealth Games and 8 medals, including 4 gold, at the Asian Games.
