What actually happened at the junction
Strip away the outrage and here’s the sequence, per police sources: the junction closes during peak hours regardless of VIPs, no left, right, or U-turns, barricades up as standard practice. When the VIP vehicle arrived, Special Protection Unit personnel began moving the barricades, and the local traffic constable joined in. At the same time, the cyclist was approaching from the other side, his bike loaded with heavy luggage. The constable tried to stop him by lifting the front wheel; the weight on the back sent the bicycle over.
