It goes without saying that India has a ‘VIP culture’ problem—and the issue is quite evident. From some of the country’s most hailed temples to almost every road, hindrances faced by common people due to the ‘prioritisation of VIPs’ have become a recurring problem, with many complaining about the same on social media. By this point, the internet is filled with videos and instances showing “poor” or “non-important” people allegedly being mistreated for the same reason.

Amid this, yet another heartbreaking video has surfaced, which not only questioned the practice of “VIP treatment” but also highlighted the mistreatment by authorities that has become normalised in the country.

A video- possibly captured on a car’s dashcam- recently surfaced online, showing a traffic cop in Mumbai allegedly mistreating a cyclist to allow a ‘VIP vehicle’ to pass smoothly. The clip showed the cop pushing the cyclist and throwing his loaded bicycle onto the road in order to make way for the ‘VIP’.

The post immediately went viral, leaving many people furious. While several users tagged the authorities and demanded action against the cop and the VIP, others criticised the cop’s behaviour.

Times Now could not independently confirm the details and the authenticity of the post.

Check out the viral post:

“Punekars please help finding owner of this car. Car number is MH12YJ3333,” the post read.

The post was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘BefittingFacts’. The post was shared yesterday and pulled over 214K views from netizens.

Internet’s reactions:

“Disgusting. The police’s duty is to protect the weak, and here they are… pouncing on the weak. And what to say about the VIPs of our country, always in an emergency, as if they will make India a superpower today itself. Like MAGA, we need MASA: Make All-VIPs Small Again,” a user read.

“@MTPHereToHelp plz take action against this inhumane act of your official. @CPMumbaiPolice Sir you hold a session every Tuesday for commoners. Please take action against this official,” added another person. “@PunePolice @MumbaiPolice @Dev_Fadnavis Who is this policeman who thinks he can act like a hooligan on the streets?” asked the next.
