For one day every year, teachers get the spotlight. Schools hold assemblies, students write messages and social media fills up with photographs of favourite teachers. By the next morning, however, teachers are back where they usually are: inside classrooms, navigating packed syllabi, paperwork, examinations and policies they are expected to implement.
