On Times Now’s show, Nation Wants To Know with Heena Gambhir over GDP Data Showdown, SC Garg said, “The base year changes, a new series comes, and the real GDP numbers change. The current or nominal GDP numbers should not change….that change will increase the size of the GDP because something that was not captured earlier is now being captured.” On the other hand, Gourav Vallabh said, “In 2011-12, FY12, when we shifted from the 2004-05 series to the 2011-12 series, the third quarter of FY2011-12 was reduced by more than 4%. Here we have 7%. When we moved from the 1999-2000 series to the 2004-05 series, nominal GDP for the first quarter of FY2009 was revised by 8%.” Watch here.
