Many athletes have represented India with pride on the international level, but for some, athletic achievement has not equated to financial stability. Jharkhand’s Amardeep Kumar is one such example. The 29-year-old throwball player has won four gold medals for India internationally, starting with the Asian Junior Throwball Championship in Malaysia in 2015. He has since won titles in Kathmandu in 2017, Bengaluru in 2019, and Ranchi in 2026. Away from the court, however, Amardeep works as a taxi driver and assists his family in making ends meet by selling vegetables at Ranchi’s Argora Chowk.
