What Caused the Ferry to Sink
The vessel, a catamaran-style boat, had departed from the port of Kyrenia, also called Girne, in Northern Cyprus. According to Ustel, the ferry ran into rough weather almost immediately and started taking on water within just 15 minutes of leaving port. A distress call went out shortly after.
