Ganesh Chaturthi 2026 has begun on a rousing note, with devotees bringing Ganpati Bappa home amid grand celebrations. The festive spirit has taken over our favourite TV celebrities as well, as popular names like Gurmeet Choudhary-Debina Bonnerjee, Devoleena Bhattacharjee-Shanawaz Shaikh, and Divyanka Tripathi-Vivek Dahiya are celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi with much enthusiasm. As the stars performed Ganpati Sthapna at their homes, they spoke about the importance of celebrating every festival with the same fervour.

Devoleena Bhattacharjee-Shanawaz Shaikh On Celebrating Every Festival

For Devoleena Bhattacharjee, festivals are all about happiness and bringing people together. The actress believes that celebrations should not be restricted by religion. Speaking exclusively to Telly Talk India, she shared how she looks at every festival as an Indian and celebrates the joy that comes with it.

“Festivals are just so beautiful. Festivals mean happiness. So whenever you get an opportunity to celebrate happiness, everyone should celebrate it, no matter what the occasion is. I don’t look at it as, ‘This festival is different’ or ‘This language is different.’ I look at it as an Indian. People love our country because of its diversity. There are so many different things, and there is unity in that diversity. We may not have that unity right now, but it should be there,” Devoleena said.

“If there are festivals, there is happiness in our homes. People come together, talk to each other, share their joys and sorrows, and celebrate together. That feels good. So, for me, every festival is worth celebrating,” she added.

Devoleena also recalled growing up in Assam and celebrating festivals beyond those traditionally associated with her Bengali and Assamese roots. She said the same approach continued after she moved to Bombay. For her and husband Shanawaz Shaikh, festivals are not about caste or creed but about celebrating something that brings happiness to everyone.

Gurmeet Choudhary-Debina Bonnerjee Welcome Ganpati Bappa Home

For Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee, one of the biggest joys of bringing Ganpati Bappa home is watching their children take part in the celebrations. This year, both the kids actively participated in the preparations, even taking charge of the colours and other activities themselves.

“Both the children have participated. They did the colours and everything themselves. They have been enjoying it so much. They have actually been waiting for two days, asking when Ganpati ji will come home. So, I think that is a very happy thing,” Gurmeet shared.

“I feel that the children have been able to understand God through all this, and I think that is a very big thing,” he added.

Debina, however, revealed that they never consciously sat down to teach their children these practices. Instead, the little ones picked them up naturally by observing each other and listening to conversations at home.

“To be honest, we never really taught them this. Not at all. One of them did something, and seeing that, the other started doing it too. I actually feel that the conversations we have at home also play a role,” Debina said.

Speaking about their celebrations, Vivek shared that they cannot reveal the face of their Bappa just yet, but the couple wanted to mark the occasion with the little form of Lord Ganesha.

Divyanka revealed that she personally decorated their home for Bappa, making the festivities even more special for the couple.
