A meat shop owner was allegedly shot dead over past personal enmity in Odisha near Kibra Chhak under Burla police station limits on Saturday, triggering panic in the area. The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Md Anish. According to preliminary information, the firing was allegedly linked to a longstanding personal dispute between Anish and the accused.
Police sources said three rounds were fired during the incident. One bullet reportedly struck Anish in the head, while two others hit his body.
Following the incident, police detained the accused at Burla police station. The country-made pistol allegedly used in the crime has also been seized.
Additional SP Ajay Kumar Mishra said that there was personal enmity between the two men and that the accused, identified as Raja Samal, allegedly opened fire at Anish with a country-made pistol at around 11 AM. According to the officer, all three bullets fired during the incident hit Anish.
Meanwhile, a video purportedly related to the shooting incident has gone viral on social media, adding to the shock surrounding the case. Police have launched a detailed investigation to establish the exact sequence of events and the motive behind the killing.
