Holger Rune has decided to pull out of the US Open 2026, saying he does not want to make a comeback directly at a Grand Slam. The 23-year-old Dane has been out of action since October last year when he picked up an Achilles tendon injury during the Stockholm semifinals. Rune had returned to training recently, with videos of him practising alongside Carlos Alcaraz going viral on social media, fueling the speculation around his return at the US Open. However, Rune decided not to make a return from injury in a Grand Slam, which will be physically very demanding.
