The United Nations’ nuclear watchdog has admitted that it has effectively lost visibility over key parts of Iran’s nuclear programme, warning that it cannot currently verify the size, composition or even the whereabouts of Tehran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium. According to a confidential report circulated to member states by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), inspectors have been unable to properly access Iranian nuclear facilities affected by the regional conflict that erupted last year.
