The services of a security guard and a nurse at the district hospital in Sector 39, Noida, have been terminated after a video showing the guard filling syringes with medication went viral. The incident allegedly took place on the night of August 14 in the hospital’s medical ward.
The video shows security guard Sunil Kumar, dressed in his official uniform, filling syringes with medication inside the hospital. Nurse Richa Kumari was reportedly on duty at the time, PTI news agency reported.
The video quickly spread on social media, raising questions over the conduct of the hospital staff and the handling of medicines inside the medical ward.
Guard Seen Filling Syringes In Medical Ward
According to officials, Kumar was not authorised to carry out such medical duties. The circumstances under which he was allegedly allowed to fill the syringes and the role of the nurse on duty are being looked into by the hospital authorities.
The incident has also raised concerns about safety protocols in the hospital, particularly regarding the preparation and handling of medication and syringes.
Services Of Third-Party Employees Terminated
District hospital Chief Medical Superintendent Dr Ashok Kumar Jha confirmed that action had been taken against both employees. He said that Sunil Kumar and Richa Kumari were third-party employees and that their services had been stopped following the incident.
“Action has been taken against nurse Richa Kumari and security guard Sunil Kumar. They were both third-party employees and their services have been stopped,” Jha said.
The hospital authorities have not yet disclosed whether any further departmental or legal action has been initiated against the two employees.
The incident has sparked concern over the supervision of third-party staff working inside healthcare facilities and the need for strict adherence to procedures involving medicines and medical equipment. Further details about the incident and any additional action are awaited.
