MMRDA said the incident involved granite debris near the FOB and not any structural collapse of the metro station. Post the incident, MMRDA has imposed a total fine of Rs 12.5 crore over the safety lapse at Medetiya Nagar Metro Station on Metro Line 9. A Rs 10 crore penalty has been imposed on project contractor J. Kumar Infraprojects Limited (JKIL), Rs 1.5 crore on architectural finishing contractor N. A. Gajanan, and Rs 1 crore on the project’s General Consultant, Systra-CEG. MMRDA has also directed all agencies to strictly follow safety protocols and implement immediate corrective and preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
