During the course of the investigation, Gujarat Police arrested a former IAS officer who, in conspiracy with the racketeers, allegedly helped siphon off government funds. Around 100 small irrigation projects worth Rs 18.67 crore were to be implemented in the Dahod region. The accused allegedly set up fake offices to swindle government funds. “The accused allegedly impersonated government officials, forged seals and signatures, prepared fake documents and fraudulently obtained government grants,” the ED said.
