The situation turned tense as police moved to stop the march, eventually using water cannons and tear gas to disperse the protesters. According to sources, the action came after protestors pelted stones on security personnel stopping them to continue with march. In several videos protestors can be seen using sticks to attack on barricades placed by Punjab police.
