When asked if existing turbulence forecasting, weather monitoring, and cockpit procedures in India are adequate to help pilots anticipate and manage such situations, Captain Randhawa said, “Yes. The pilots have gone through weather charts, metars/tafs, etc., in the pre-flight briefs. Then, at regular intervals, pilots take weather updates from enroute stations. Lastly, they monitor the weather radars for any adverse weather. Evasive action in concurrence with the ATC is taken by the pilots before the aircraft enters adverse weather.”
