Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, frail or elderly people and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms can include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare cases, Salmonella infection can lead to more severe illnesses.
