The story is based on one of the most important chapters in George R.R. Martin’s Targaryen history, which was chronicled in Fire & Blood. Set approximately 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones, the story follows Aegon Targaryen, later known as Aegon the Conqueror, as he sets out to bring Westeros under a single ruler. Aegon did not undertake the campaign alone. He was accompanied by his two sister-wives, Visenya and Rhaenys, who rode their own formidable dragons. Aegon rode Balerion the Black Dread, one of the largest and most terrifying dragons in Westerosi history. Visenya rode Vhagar, while Rhaenys rode Meraxes.
