Two Delhi University (DU) colleges, Aditi Mahavidyalaya and Bhagini Nivedita College, have been granted the permission to admit undergraduate students through merit-based admissions in physical mode. The aim behind this is to ensure that all undergraduate seats are filled in the given timeline.
DU has allowed these two colleges to admit students on the basis of class 12 marks instead of the university’s the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-based admission system, under which admissions to undergraduate programmes are conducted through the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS).
A senior DU official told Times Now Digital that the reason behind this move is that these two colleges struggle to fill their seats in undergraduate (UG) courses due to their remote locations. “Students who initially take admission in these colleges end up later withdrawing their names after visiting the colleges. So, we want to ensure that no seats go to waste, and thus these two colleges were allowed to grant admission on the basis of class 12 marks,” the official said.
In the past, too, these two colleges have faced similar problem, for which the same solution was exercised. The only difference being that earlier the relaxation was implemented only after all regular CSAS admission rounds had concluded and seats still remained vacant. However, “since this happens every year, DU allowed these colleges to start the process a little earlier this year,” the official confirmed.
Aditi Mahavidyalaya is located in Bawana, Delhi, while the Bhagini Nivedita College is located in Kair, Najafgarh, Delhi. Both these colleges are women’s constituent college of the University of Delhi.
For all other colleges, CUET UG scores will be the primarysource of admissions. The University of Delhi (DU) is currently conducting the admission process for undergraduate (UG) courses. Students who appeared for CUET UG 2026 and filled their details in the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) UG portal can now complete their admission process within the timelines given by the central university.
