The mythological animated film Mahaprabhu Jagannath was postponed after the Odisha High Court sought a ban, claiming that portraying Lord Jagannath in an animated or cartoon format could hurt the religious sentiments of devotees. It was scheduled to release worldwide on July 17. However, on July 29, the Supreme Court dismissed the plea. In addition, the makers were asked to release the film only after the annual Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri concluded. Now, as Durga Prasad Dalai, the producer of Mahaprabhu Jagannath, is in talks to lock a release date, he told Zoom exclusively that the film’s delay could be ‘Jagannath’s wish’.
