High up in the Himalayas, above 4,000 metres, grows a flower that most people will never see in their lifetime. Locals call it ‘Kenjo’ or ‘Padamchal’, but it has picked up a nickname that fits it perfectly: The Diamond Flower. It blooms only once every 7 to 15 years, and when it does, it grows taller than an average person. A video of trekkers stumbling upon this flower recently went viral, and it is easy to see why! Spotting it is not just rare, it is, in fact, close to a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and for trekkers heading into the high Himalayas, there is a small but real chance of running into one.
