During the Monsoon Session of Parliament, the Centre stated that the FMGE pass percentage for the June 2026 session was 12.78 per cent. Past NBEMS performance reports further reveal the average time foreign medical graduates take to clear the licensing exam and which countries contribute the highest number of successful candidates.
The Centre also informed that over 35 per cent of candidates appearing for the first time have cleared the examination, while nearly 88 per cent of those, repeat candidates, recorded an overall low success rate.
However, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is yet to publish a detailed performance report for the June 2026 session.
December 2025: Most Candidates Cleared FMGE Within One Year
NBEMS categorises successful candidates based on the time taken to clear FMGE after completing their primary medical qualification abroad. The December 2025 examination observed the highest number of candidates qualification, within six months to one year after graduation.

June 2025: More Candidates Qualified After One Year
Unlike the December session, the June 2025 FMGE recorded its largest group of successful candidates in the one year to one-and-a-half years category.

These three groups represented 4,411 of the 6,709 candidates who qualified during the June 2025 examination.
Qualification Timelines Varied Across Sessions
Qualification timelines of both the sessions were found to not be identical. While most successful candidates in December 2025 cleared FMGE within one year of graduation, the June 2025 session observed candidates in large numbers, qualifying after a longer gap.
However, NBEMS has not issued any official reason behind the variation. The performance report has reflected that the difference could be due to the timing of graduation and the proportion of repeat candidates appearing in different examination sessions, though this has not been confirmed.
Country-Wise FMGE Performance
The NBEMS reports also highlight differences in performance based on the country where candidates obtained their medical qualification.

Among these countries, the Russian Federation produced the highest number of successful candidates, while Georgia recorded the highest pass percentage. China registered the lowest pass percentage among the five countries listed.

In the June 2025 session, China recorded the highest number of successful candidates, while Georgia, once again, secured the highest pass percentage among the leading countries.
The detailed 2025 performance reports show that the time taken to clear FMGE differs considerably among candidates, depending on their primary medical education. While the June 2026 session detailed session-wise analysis from NBEMS is awaited.
