Can You Drink Tea During Sawan Somwar Vrat? What Tradition Says

When it comes to India, across the country, the fasting custom is deeply influenced by what is followed in the family, the family’s cultures, traditions and local practices. In many of the households here, devotees are the ones with a habit of drinking tea in the morning, so they do so during the Sawan Somwar vrat as well, especially if they are fasting from grains but not completely abstaining from beverages. For those who are the elder devotees, people who have demanding work schedules or those who are observing a fast that is partial in nature, drinking tea is often seen as a practical choice to avoid any types of headache or fatigue. This doesn’t necessarily mean they are breaking the fast or its spirit as their primary intention remains to worship or to be devoted. Because there is no single rule followed by every community, both practices exist side by side.
