Their coach Luis de la Fuente receieved massive credit for his tactics, which made them dominant throughout the tournament, as they conceded just one goal, making them the team to concede the fewest goals in FIFA World Cup-winning campaign. An integral part of this defence, left-back Marc Cucurella made a special tribute to de la Fuente as he fulfilled a pre-tournament promise.
