Joe Root is reportedly set to make his return as England’s Test captain. England are searching for a new captain since Ben Stokes’ shock retirement from international cricket. Stokes, who played his last game for England against New Zealand, backed Harry Brook to replace him as the Test captain. “There’s a reason why he was asked to be vice-captain of this team. I know that with all the controversy over the last couple of weeks, there were some decisions that were made, but those were decisions that I wasn’t part of making,” Stokes said. But the England Cricket Board is unlikely to put the burden of all three formats on Brook.
