New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Three decades ago, Dharmendra Pradhan was on the other side of a police baton. In 1997, as ABVP National Secretary, he led 1,500 students in a protest against a paper leak in Odisha, outside the state secretariat. Police charged. Pradhan was beaten badly, suffering fractures. A photograph of him, visibly injured and bloodied, became a symbol of student resistance. Today, students are being lathicharged outside Parliament demanding his resignation over an eerily similar issue: a paper leak in a national examination.
