What Is Operation Hard Ball?
Operation Hard Ball is a major US federal crackdown on transnational organised crime networks linked to India. The operation targeted three India-linked organised crime groups: the Bishnoi network, the Bhagwanpuria gang and the Dhanda smuggling organisation. Using undercover officers, confidential informants, and fake extortion deals, investigators built a case that led to charges against 37 people and the arrest of 24 individuals across the US, Canada, and Europe. Authorities also seized around 1,000 kilograms of cocaine, more than $40,000 in cash, and about a dozen firearms during the operation.
