Tsunami Alert in New Zealand's South Island After 6.3 Earthquake Hits Region, Evacuation Order Issued

New Zealand has been put on tsunami alert after the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) issued a warning following a magnitude 6.3 earthquake in the South Island. However, the intensity was latter downgraded to 5.9. The quake had hit 40 km north of Te Anau, a town located south-west of Queenstown, on the South Island. NEMA said that areas from Milford Sound to Puysegur Point are most likely to be affected.
