Legal Troubles Complicate the Picture
Beyond politics, Musk’s relationship with France carries a legal dimension as well. French authorities have launched a criminal investigation into Grok, the AI chatbot built by X, focused on its role in spreading sexually explicit deepfakes and generating antisemitic content in the past. That investigation led to a police raid on X’s Paris offices in February. Musk was later summoned to appear before French prosecutors in April for questioning, but he never showed up for the interview.
