The events have been organised by the October Council, a group comprising bereaved families, survivors of the attacks and some former hostages. During the demonstrations, participants displayed banners reading, “1,000 days of abandonment, neglect, cover-up and failure”, while others waved yellow flags, blocked traffic and attempted to disrupt access to the Knesset.
The council has repeatedly criticised the Israeli government over what it describes as failures to prevent the October 7 attacks and has called for an independent state commission of inquiry, opposing proposals for a politically appointed investigative committee.
Further demonstrations are scheduled later today in Tel Aviv, including gatherings outside the Defence Ministry headquarters and at Hostages Square.
