Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has called for sweeping legal action against the United States and Israel, accusing both countries of committing war crimes during the recent conflict and urging Iranian authorities to pursue thousands of cases in domestic and international courts.
In a series of posts on X marking Iran’s National Week of the Judiciary, Khamenei said statements by American and Israeli leaders acknowledging military operations against Iran amounted to admissions of wrongdoing that could strengthen Tehran’s legal case.
“The confessions and even brazen boasting of some of the leaders of the US-Zionist enemy regarding these crimes are indisputably an admission of crime, and these effectively pave the way for the vindication of the Iranian nation’s rights that have been violated,” Khamenei wrote.
Recalls Minab School Strike
The Iranian leader specifically referenced the strike on a school in Minab, along with attacks in Lamerd, claiming they resulted in the deaths of children and civilians during what he described as the “Second and Third Imposed Wars.”
Khamenei said every incident—from attacks on schools and medical facilities to civilian casualties—should become part of legal proceedings.
“Physical and psychological damages inflicted on each individual of the Iranian nation… from child killings and war crimes in Minab and Lamerd to attacks on medical centers… are legal files that must be pursued in both domestic and international courts,” he stated.
He also referred to the deaths of newborns, elderly civilians and what he called the “martyrdom” of his predecessor, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, saying each represented a separate legal case that should be pursued vigorously.
Iran Condemns Fresh US Airstrikes
Khamenei’s remarks came as Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned overnight U.S. strikes targeting monitoring and surveillance facilities along Iran’s southern coast.
The ministry accused Washington of violating both the UN Charter and the June 18, 2026 ceasefire agreement, arguing the attacks demonstrated that the United States could not be trusted to honor its commitments.
In a strongly worded statement, Tehran described the strikes as evidence that “the American regime places no value or credibility on its own commitments.”
Trump Defends Military Action
U.S. President Donald Trump said American forces struck Iranian missile and drone storage facilities, along with coastal radar installations, after accusing Tehran of violating the ceasefire.
Trump warned that further violations would trigger an even stronger American military response, saying the United States was prepared to “wipe out” Iran if attacks continued.
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) later confirmed that American forces had conducted additional precision strikes against multiple Iranian military targets under Trump’s orders.
IRGC Claims Retaliatory Strikes
In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it launched a joint missile-and-drone operation targeting eight U.S. military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain.
The IRGC described the operation as a “decisive response” to what it called renewed American aggression and vowed to continue retaliatory action if further attacks were carried out.
The latest exchange has intensified concerns that the fragile ceasefire reached earlier this month could unravel, raising fears of another escalation between Iran, the United States and their regional allies.
