OpenAI, Microsoft, Amazon, and Anthropic have joined hands as anchor partners in Raise US, which is a non-profit organisation focused to help Americans adapt to the workplace disruptions brought by AI. These firms plan to raise $1 billion to develop a national platform advising governors on workforce strategies, with $500 million already raised, as per a report by Business Insider on the matter.

Furthermore, former Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said, ‘America has a technology strategy for leading the global AI competition. It does not yet have a people strategy – and we cannot lead without one.’ Raise US is partnering with Arkansas, Maryland, Utah, and Connecticut, representing both Democratic and Republican states. The nonprofit will pilot workforce models directly with state governments to boost the adoption.

That’s not it, as Raise US also plans to test policies like short time compensation and wage insurance, scaled-back projects by investor Kevin O’Leary.

As for the AI race, even the giants like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon have accepted that the AI firm Anthropic has taken a lead in developing ‘frontier’ AI models, especially when it comes to enterprise and coding software. Nonetheless, top executives from these firms have said that they are not concerned because they rely on specialised foundations and distinct development timelines to close the competitive gap.

Amazon could be dubbed the latest one in the list to agree that Anthropic is way beyond when it comes to models. And in a pretty recent development, Anthropic has also got a green signal from the US government to provide its Mythos model to selected firms only. It will be interesting to see how the future of AI will look like considering that other companies are also going to bring Mythos-scale AI models in the future, with OpenAI already being super close to the same.
