Baahubali follows the story of Shiva, an orphan who lives with his adoptive family in a small village. He is fascinated with the nearby majestic waterfalls and the township above that. It is then revealed that Shiva is the son of Mahishmati’s deceased king, Amarendra Baahubali and his wife Devasena. Kattappa, the loyal guard in Queen Sivagami’s court, has killed Amarendra and Shiva, who goes by the name of Mahendra Baahubali, visits Mahishmati to uncover hidden secrets. He learns about Sivagami’s son, Bhallaladeva. Sivagami adores Amarendra, the orphaned son of Mahishmati’s ruler Vikramadeva, and makes him the king. Bhallaladeva is filled with jealousy and has sinister plans against his cousin brother. Shiva learns about his ancestral past and frees his mother, Devasena, from Bhallaladeva’s custody.
