A shocking incident has come to light from Karnataka’s Bagalkote district, where two minor boys were allegedly assaulted and tied to a school window after a cricket ball accidentally hit a woman while they were playing.
The incident took place on June 21 at around 11 am at the Government Kannada Primary School in Narenur LT-01 village in Badami taluk, police said. According to officials, several children were playing cricket on the school premises as it was a holiday. During the game, a cricket ball accidentally struck a person from a nearby house.
Police said the woman allegedly became angry over the incident and verbally abused the children. She then allegedly instigated others to punish them.
The accused allegedly tied the two boys, identified as Prajwal and Sushanth, to an iron grill or school window using a rope and assaulted them with their hands and slippers. Local residents later intervened and freed the children.
The injured boys were admitted to a hospital for treatment. Following a complaint filed by the parents, the Kerur Police reached the spot and launched an investigation.
Police have registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to assault, wrongful confinement and common intention. Three people have been taken into custody in connection with the incident. They have been identified as Renuka Gopal Lamani, Basavaraj Gopal Lamani and Abhi Shivappa Lamani.
Police said further investigation in the matter is underway.
