Aditya Dhar’s recent blockbusters Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar: The Revenge are music-heavy films. Despite being set in Pakistan, the songs draw their inspiration from Indian raags. While Ishq Jalakar (Karvaan) is based on Raag Bhimpalasi with influences of Darbari and Kalavati, the romantic Arijit Singh song, Gehra Hua, picturised on Ranveer Singh and Sara Arjun is Raag Yaman Kalyan. In Dhurandhar 2, Arijit’s song, Phir Se, is based on Thaat Khamaj / Raag Dwijavathi. Music composer Shashwat Sachdev used raags in the best way in the Dhurandhar franchise. A complicated yet thoroughly ear-pleasing song, Jaiye Sajna, is derived from Raag Todi.
