Football World Applauds Japan As 'Meiwaku' Spirit Shines After Netherlands Draw

Japan earned massive praise for pulling off a 2-2 draw against the Netherlands in the FIFA World Cup, but that was not the only thing that got everyone talking about Japan. Japanese culture follows a philosophy of leaving a place as they found it, something taught to students in elementary school; thus, after the game, the fans stayed behind to clean up trash in the stadium, earning massive applause. There is also a concept in Japan known as “Meiwaku”, which prioritises avoiding causing inconvenience or trouble to others, and leaving a stadium dirty would have conflicted with it.
