A private school owner was shot dead in Himachal Pradesh‘s Shimla by unknown assailants on Saturday, triggering panic in the region. According to reports, the crime took place on June 13 around 6:15 PM near Housing Board Colony in Shimla’s Sanjauli.

According to initial information, the deceased has been identified as Manisha Mittal, owner and administrator of Saraswati Paradise International Public School. The alleged gunmen opened fire at her near the school gate. She reportedly sustained three bullet injuries and died on the spot.

Sources reveal that shortly before the incident, Manisha Mittal had returned from a nearby shop. At that moment, two to three assailants, who had arrived in a vehicle bearing a Punjab registration number, opened fire at her and fled the scene immediately.

Initial probe into the incident suggests that the deceased was allegedly involved in an ongoing dispute over property with her brother.

Upon receiving the information, police and forensic teams rushed to the spot. A city-wide blockade has been imposed, and efforts are underway to trace the suspects and the vehicle involved. The cops are also examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify and apprehend the accused at the earliest.

A case of murder has been registered and an investigation has been launched into all aspects of the incident.
