Authors Guild Study Examines Why Writers’ Earnings Are Falling

The study, conducted by the Codex Group, found that only 25% of print books and e-books read in the previous month had been bought new or accessed through a paid subscription. According to the report, average author earnings now stand at about $10,000 a year, marking a decline of roughly 42% since 2009, the year Amazon’s Kindle entered the market.
