According to Bloomberg, software researcher M1Astra discovered multiple references inside the first iOS 27 developer beta that appear to be linked to folding hardware. Among them are internal code strings such as “foldState,” alongside references including “mechanicalAngleDegrees” and “angleDegrees.” These terms suggest that the software can detect whether a device is folded, unfolded, or partially opened at a specific angle. While Apple has not commented on the findings, the terminology closely resembles software controls commonly found in existing foldable smartphones.
