The Ajit Agarkar-headed selection committee decided against recalling Shubman Gill to the T20I team despite his heroics in IPL 2026. Dropped from the T20I squad before the World Cup, Gill proved his worth in IPL and piled up 732 runs in 16 matches to finish as the second-highest run-scorer. His tally included one century and six half-centuries. Apart from excelling on the batting front, Gill also showed his captaincy prowess and captained Gujarat Titans (GT) to the final. GT suffered a defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the summit clash.
