Shreyas Iyer made his return to the T20I team as the captain and he replaced Suryakumar Yadav, who captained India to a title win in the 2026 World Cup in March. Iyer hasn’t played a T20I since December 2023. The selectors rewarded him for his dream captaincy run in IPL, where he has captained three IPL teams to the final and won 1 title. A day after Suryakumar’s removal, Sourav Ganguly reacted to it and made a huge comment. Speaking at an event, the former Indian captain said that it wasn’t unfair to remove Suryakumar from captaincy.
