Former India cricketer and selector Saba Karim stated that Suryakumar Yadav’s batting slump does not justify his inclusion in the team, particularly as selectors are currently concentrating on the 2028 T20 World Cup. Despite scoring a few half-centuries against New Zealand earlier this year and playing a match-winning effort in the T20 World Cup opener against the USA, the 35-year-old Suryakumar has not been able to maintain his batting form. Even in the IPL, the current Indian T20I captain struggled for runs, scoring just 270 at a strike rate of 147.54 in 13 games with just two fifties.
