After losing to Meenakshi Goyat in the semi-finals, Vinesh Phogat unleashed a brutal attack on the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), claiming that her battle goes much beyond the wrestling mat. After a protracted legal battle in which the courts ruled in her favour against the WFI, the former World Championships medallist had just recently been granted permission to compete. But after losing, Vinesh claimed she was not given an equal opportunity to compete and that the system still discriminated against competitors who dared to speak up.
