Born in Lucknow on October 10, 1985, Shukla was commissioned into the Indian Air Force fighter stream in June 2006. He later became a fighter combat leader and test pilot, logging more than 2,000 flying hours across aircraft, including the Su-30 MKI, MiG-21, MiG-29, Jaguar, Hawk, Dornier and An-32.
