Prayagraj (UP): Police in Prayagraj have solved a double murder case in which a man allegedly killed his parents and sister over a property dispute, before being killed by his accomplice during a fight over sharing stolen valuables.

According to police officials, the bodies of 70-year-old Virendra Vaishya, his wife Anita (65), and their daughter Meenakshi (45) were recovered from their residence in the South Malaka area under Kotwali police station limits on Tuesday. The body of their son, Abhishek Vaishya (40), was later found in a shop on the ground floor of the same building, the PTI reported.

Police Commissioner Jogendra Kumar said that Abhishek, along with his friend Sunny Gupta, allegedly planned and executed the killing of his parents and sister after being disowned over property issues. Investigators said the crime was carried out on May 31 inside the family home.

After the killings, the duo allegedly shifted to the shop below to divide cash and valuables taken from the house. However, a dispute reportedly broke out between them during the division, leading Gupta to allegedly murder Abhishek and leave his body inside the shop before fleeing.

Police said Gupta was later traced through CCTV footage and arrested. A small quantity of gold and a large amount of silver were recovered from his possession. During questioning, he reportedly confessed to both the murders.

Further investigation into the case is underway.

In another incident reported by PTI, Meerut police investigating the killing of a 23-year-old man found shot dead inside a car parked along a highway have arrested his father, who is believed to be the main accused.

Police said the father allegedly killed his son over a suspicion that the victim had paid ₹10 lakh to have him eliminated amid an ongoing family dispute. The case was reportedly solved within 24 hours of the body being discovered around midnight on June 1.

Officials said Sunder Tyagi and his associate Amit, also known as Vedwan, were arrested on Tuesday, while another accused remains absconding and efforts are on to trace him.
