The prize adds to an already distinguished literary career for McCaulay, who is widely regarded as one of Jamaica’s leading writers. She has received the Gold Musgrave Medal, Jamaica’s highest honour for lifetime achievement in the arts and sciences, and has twice won the Commonwealth Short Story Prize for the Caribbean region, in 2012 and 2022.
