Hollywood actor Idris Elba received a knighthood from King Charles at Windsor Castle. The actor, best known for The Wire and Luther, was honoured in the New Year Honours for his services to young people. Apart from Idris, Dame Jayne Torvill and Sir Christopher Dean were knighted for their services to ice skating and voluntary service. Moreover, actress Dame Meera Syal was honoured for her services to drama, charity and literature. For the unversed, the Luther actor founded Elba Hope Foundation in 2022, which advocated education, sustainable development, youth advocacy and more.
